U0100 - Lost Communication With ECM/PCM "A"

Vehicle towed in with a crank no start. Scanned it and could not communicate with my ECM & all other modules coding U0100. Verified my fuses for PCM & found EFI (20a fuse) in my engine compartment fuse box was blown. replaced it and re-scanned P1603 | Engine Stall history P1604 | Start Ability Malfunction P1605 | Rough Idling. Cranked it over and noticed smoke coming from fuel pump area (fun). Removed my fuel pump plastic cover and saw the wires were rubbed right through & touching each other. Repaired and retested OK. Did not really see anywhere in particular that those wires were rubbing but just a heads up if anyone ever comes across any thing similar.

Great! I'll have to keep this one in mind. We see lots of Tacomas but no issues like this yet.

That’s the first thing I though of cause I had a 2008 and remember that recall but no he said he received the letter but never had it done.
