Programming Error

Trying to program a new blank TCM, I keep getting a message that the key is off even when its running. I have no codes and have not found any missing powers or grounds. Not sure why the Consult doesn't see the ignition on.

Hi Charles, Are you using the Consult 3+ Genuine Pass-Through or another tool as the Pass-Through?

If you can plug in the old TCM and ground it, see if the problem goes away. It may be the wrong TCM or a bad one. If the problem is the same then there may be a connection issue at the 16 pin connector or upstream to the connector. If it is a software issue or VI issue then you could always go the J2534 route, I have programmed quite a few that way. It takes a long time but is fairly stable with…

I personally have not run into this issue.. Interesting to say the least... If you are using a Consult 3 plus VI and using it in USB mode I would make sure the USB port or cable is good.. If you are using the VI in Wireless mode. I would make sure all other bluetooth is off in or around the C3+ tool for starters.. If the VI cannot see the USB cable in USB mode it cannot transmit the data into…

Make sure you are using a quality power supply. And what type interface are you using? If you are using a genuine Nissan VCI may need to make sure your cable isn't damaged. Does it display the proper voltage when you are on the diagnostic side?

I have done at least 150 of these TCMs. I have done another vehicle sense I had this problem and came back to this one with the same problem. I can communicate with all modules and actually have already written the software to the TCM but cant complete the programming without the Consult seeing the key cycle. The problem in definitely in the vehicle and not my equipment

I think I understand what is going ON, so the consult does not see from ON to Off, or from OFF to ON? The only thing that can come to my mind is if the scanner doesn’t see when you turn it off, obviously there is some kind of power keeping the OBD2 power ON. I want to said maybe pull the fuse for OBD 2, or just take the negative cable from the battery to kill power. just an idea on how you…
