2020 Lexus ES300H "Rear Camera Detection Unavailable" message on dash, RCD and ICS lights flashing
2020 Lexus ES300H, had damage to front end and right side. We have successfully performed front radar, front and rear ICS park sensors, steering angle sensor, and backup camera calibrations with Autel and Techstream tools. Vehicle still has "Rear Camera Detection Unavailable" warning message on dash, along with alternating "RCD Off" and "ICS Off" lights blinking, but no codes in any modules. All sensors and cameras are working properly. Vehicle has been driven 50 miles. We have also tried turning the wheel from lock to lock on level ground in park and reverse, as this has apparently solved the issue for many Camry owners on forums whose batteries had died or been disconnected. Any help would be appreciated!
EDIT: Just found this in the owners manual page 224 drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/docum….pdf ■If “Rear Camera Detection Unavailable” is displayed on the multi-information display ●If this message is displayed after the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, fully turn the steering wheel to the left and then the right on level ground. ●If this…
We found the solution, see updated post. To answer your questions, yes we tried turning the wheel fully from lock to lock as I had read that in other forums as well, that did not work. The message was displayed all the time, as soon as you start the vehicle, and the camera lens was clean. Yes the guide lines turn. The live data showed that the SAS was learned, and all other PIDS looked normal…
I'm glad you solved it. On a 2020-21 Camry I had (from what I remember) In the Camera setting mode there was a Max steering angle memorize button on the navigation screen. I clicked it, held it and it seemed inactive. I had to turn the steering wheel all the way left and then right and the button became active.
That's exactly what we had to do as well. First time running into this where doing it through the techstream wasn't enough. Glad we got it solved, and I hope this saves some other people some time and frustration as well. Thank you!
Check in adas modules for history clear(rob). I believe that’s what it’s titled. I’ve had instances where there’s no codes (light on) and the history shows the problem And/or clearing history resolves it. good luck
Clearing RoB did not help. We have had instances in the past as well with that being the issue. See resolution below! Thank you!
UPDATE: We have solved the issue. We had to perform the "steering center memorize", then turn the steering wheel all the way left, then all the way right, and perform "max steering angle memorize" functions in the service menu through the navigation screen, despite having already done the procedure through Techstream.
