Hello ladies and gentlemen.

Customer says pcm is on national back order. Wants to put a used pcm. He says donor pcm came from exact year and model. I did some research on previous post and these new Chrysler (fca) appear cannot be fitted with a used pcm short of cloning or eeprom swap.

I’ve installed used pcm on older ones but not sure on these fca’s. Just don’t want to give customer wrong info(or pay 150.00 in subscriptions) and not be able to do it. Thanks

Hi Gary, Help us out, what is the root complaint with the vehicle? It's a 2019, did they check for dealer TSB's? Be careful of shop and customer created ‘rabbit holes’. I don't commit to programming anything without confirmed (and printed) flow chart findings. This saves a lot of hurt feelings and disappointments. If they have the ‘trust me’ mentality… wait for the smile. That says you are…

Chrysler training since 2007 says no. It's one VIN and done. Now if there is a way? It's NOT available in the dealer at all.

2018 Ram is the newest one I did. Just change the VIN using your scan tool. If it's the same part number that should be all. You don't need a wiTech subscription. From my experience, if you get the wrong p/n, wiTech will not flash with correct software, it will only update the current s/w on the PCM to the newest one. Supposedly there is a work-around if it's the wrong s/w but same hardware…

Sorry I don't remember. I don't think you do need the pin unless you're running PCM replace function on the WIN module. My IM608 pulls pin either way. I think I just run the vin change procedure in PCM functions.

Waste of money cant be done sticking preowned modules from one vehicle to another with out a Blank VIN Block scanner wont rewrite and you be left with 2 VINs showing for the PCM Original and the Junk one

What kind if jeep? since not allnhave the same protocol? some dont work by changing just vin since the immo info if in recorded on an eeprom. and some you have to do proxi aligbment. Was it a wrangler?

Thanks for all the replies. I changed the vin, got the pin code, and all is well. However the autel did not have the “pcm replaced” option in the wcm. I had to use witech. Thanks again
