Thanks for the video Aaron, Typically noises like that come into many shops and they instantly want to shotgun ball joints on the vehicle. I have used a Steelman Chassis Ear for many years and it is not as advanced as the PICO NVH but it works through piezo electric microphones. When I worked at the dealer I used NVH test equipment quite often and the other techs typically avoided the…

Hi Aaron, I worked at a local Ford dealer at the time. That is what prompted me to buy an NVH test set. I don't use it very often, but it is nice to have when I need it. I even use a sonic leak detector once in a while from my body shop days. If you want to focus on weird noise diagnostics, look at body shops. They have them practically every day.

Hi Aaron. Good job. The NVH kit was developed for GM with Pico. There was a rumour that Toyota was initially involved, but that the project stalled. I can't substantiate that, but use the tool as first brought to market for GM. It used a single axis sensor that was soon replaced with a 3 axis sensor. BTW, don't forget to disconnect the cables from any internal battery powered modules, or the…

All you have proven is the vibration/or noise could be heard better at the brake caliper by the NVH sensor. I would be interested to see an after capture if you change the brakes. The suspension could be more your issue but keep us posted. Thanks for your post

Hi Raymond, Autel has not ventured that direction yet that I know of. The only other one I am familiar with is the ATS system. They have a mic option that can be plugged into their scope. Of course ATS is the top of the line, but that is my personal opinion. There is also a NVH program download available for smart phones and tablets that have GPS built in (not sure of the accuracy). I see the…
