DRB III with tech tools
I need some help here, I'm trying to use techtools with drbiii , I haven't used techtools in long time because didn't have a tech authority subscription and everytime I flashed an older chrysler I've always used the itil/ ISIS software . I have a sub now so downloaded techtools , NI drivers and everything went fine but when I'm trying to connect the drb it always shows "drb not connected" I've tried changing com ports , I'm using the old null modem cable between laptop and drb (same I've always used with itil) and nothing. My question is : does the new tech tools works with the serial port/null modem cable or do I need the gpib cable? I'm running win10. Thanks in advance
First you need to ID the com port your using (search "device manager" from bottom left toolbar" then click on "ports com&LPT") your computer and set that in the tech-tools software once that is done if everything is connected and techtools is open reboot DRBIII and it will usually auto connect with tech tools. I know the DRBIII menu has "Connect to Techtools" but mine seems to be hit and…
Thanks for the info, I tried your way and didn't work. I typed the kit # you gave me and the only place it shows is ebay for almost $600 does that sound right?
Yes they are very expensive. I bought mine off eBay.
I have had absolutely no luck connecting the DRB III with the null cable. I acquired the GPIB cable and have had zero issues since.
Thanks for replying. Did you buy the one Tom said? Ch2002 , Ch7035b or are there any other options out there?
I would definitely look into getting a GPIB cable kit. There is another option, I'll look it up and get back with you. It's a bit cheaper. The last kit I got off of eby, I got the two cables separate, and it was way cheaper than getting them together. I'll look again to see if I can find them links as well.
If I had your email, i can send the links
Are you using internet explorer? As far as i know it still wont work with google web browser.
So are you adapting from serial to USB? What adapter are you using? I've had good luck with the KeySpan, same one used for GM. I also mainly use a PC with a serial adapter and even then it takes a few times to get DRB to connect to TechTools.
No, I'm trying to use the serial port on the laptop with the null modem cable like used with itil/ISIS software
I couldn't find a link to the rs232 adapter. Someone in here mentioned the one {KeySpan} You might also be able to call AEtools too and tell them what you have and see if there's any drivers you might be missing. I don't know about the cable setup you have to be any help for you. But if you can swing the two cables off of them links, then they are a plug and play. My new laptop loaded the…
Windows 10 is a pain to setup for techtools to work with the drb3. I ended up calling AE tools and having them setup my laptop to work with tech tools, they had to change the java version. You can use RS232 cable hooked to a laptop that has that port or buy the keyspan USA-19HS. Here is a link to the one I bought off amazon: amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-Key… If you have amazon prime it…
Thanks for the info. Ordering right now.
