The last Volkswagen I put a used ecm was a 2008 and programming and sync was not a problem. The current car I have is a 2012 CC with a MED17.5.2 ECM and there seems to be a question if this is possible on this year. I will be sending to the dealer for programming and sync immobilizer . I do not have odis/geko and it looks like it will take to long to get through the paper work for this job. I am trying to figure this out first if this will be possible as I am sure the dealer would love to charge me for programming (300claims) and turn around and tell me they can not do it.

Thank you

It is possible with ODIS, I would be surprised if the dealer will do it. In my area they won't program used modules, even though the software will do it.

I did have it done a few years ago at this dealer but the master-tech (a former employee of mine) moved to texas.

I concur with these gents. I did one last month, same year as yours. ODIS knocks them out without much fuss.

I usually use ktag to read them and either clone it completely or use editing tools to copy just the important bits.

HI Mitchell, maybe you could check around your area for a mobile programmer. They would be able to tell you if they could do it and do the job most likely at your location. As opposed to towing it.

Used module should be fine. Either ODIS to program or Ktag to clone I would agree both are options

I clone with kess on vw/Audi less headache and faster than removing component protection then dealing with other issues. As long as part numbers are exact match you should be ok. Anyone with vcds, abrites or odis can do it in an hours time or so. However most dealers unless you have a good relationship with them are hesitant to do customer supplied parts much less used parts

I am glad to hear from you guys that it can be done on this model. As far as mobile programmer , at-least the one I know of in the area does not do VW. I plan to get setup with ODIS because of this but it will take to long to get it done for this job. As far as Ktag I plan to get into that also but do not have the time for that right now and do not know if that damage to this computer will allow…
