2012 Grand Caravan stalling
This car came to us because their mechanic thought the torque converter was causing it to stall but this will stall while driving down the road. There is no chugging like would happen if it was the TC. It's very intermittent and there are no codes. Twice today I was pulling away and at about 15 mph the engine just lost power and dropped to about 1200 rpm and had no throttle response and then as I slowed down it stalled. I have attached a movie where the stall occurred at about frame 1570.
Looks like it was lean during the event, have we verified fuel pressure?
Hi Mark. Miss you buddy. Have a blessed and safe week to you and your family.
I have found that the TIPM can create a lot of this by the relay going bad in it. I agree with mark that it went lean which would lead me to the fuel pump relay inside the tipm. Tap into the feed wire to the fuel pump and put a light on it and test drive to see if the light goes out at the same time you loose power. Just a thought.
There’s a TSB for these vehicles. It involves wiring in an external fuel pump relay. Scope the fuel pump power supply from the TIPM. If it’s erratic before/during the stall, consider installing the relay kit from dealer or replacing TIPM$$. Sorry I don’t know the TSB #
hi, any one notice that bank 1 and bank 2 air charge temp sensors are reading -83 degrees. Outside temp is 57degrees and oil temp is like 157. could that be a problem?
We ended up pulling the trans back out since there was a lot of metal in the pan and found a bad planetary was creating the metal The customer had been also complaining about a harsh shift although we never felt it. I know it's possible for the tcc solenoid sticking can cause the car to stall but usually only when slowing down and coming to a stop. This car would stall while on the throttle and…
