Ford spark plug threads
Anyone know of a good plug thread repair kit for 2008 4.6 2 valve engines? I have both the cal-van kits but they stop at 11 of 2007. The plug in this one is too small for the insert in the 11 of 2007 kit. I don't want to use a heli-coil.
I have been selling Timesert for 40 years. They are the easiest to install and most likely to stay in the cylinder, due to the locking feature when the plugs are changed out. Timesert has a taper seat insert that swells the insert on the bottom of the threaded hole, vs the Lisle that expands the top of the insert. The Lisle kit is much less expensive. timesert.com/html/triton_re… LMK if I…
It is currently out of stock, sorry! Four to five week out.
Lisle 65200 DEEP HOLE ALUMINUM HEAD M14X 1.25 SPARK PLUG HOLE REPAIR KIT lislecorp.com/specialty-tool…
I have used Timesert several times. All still in use one over 100k miles.
I am also a huge fan of Time-Sert. Have been using them for the last 15 years… I won't use a Heli-Coil I think ever again. I will just order the kit I need and overnight it.
Timesert is the only repair I will use for a spark plug have not had 1 fail yet.
Definitely Timesert, You can get a set with vacuum cleaner attachments to suck metal shavings out of cylinder when your done taping, also don't forget to make sure that valves are closed before you drill,
