Battery Availabilty

Last week was my 3rd customer within a couple months in need of a battery on their highlander. All of them had the stop/start. Toyota has a specific battery for this feature , bulletin T-TT-0523-19.

"The Stop & Start equipped battery is specially designed for deep discharges, and it is of a design called enhanced flooded battery (EFB). Characteristics of EFB type batteries are the ability to quickly discharge, and recharge."

This battery is getting hard to come by, and initially I was on a month long waiting list. Luckily at the last minute the dealer located one. Other dealers were bone dry as well. Aftermarket showed a back order.

Anyone use an AGM battery, or in the same situation? Hard to tell a customer your car will be down a month just for a battery

My battery distributor said the AGM Battery is actually an upgrade from the EFB for most applications but not the Highlander

EFB batteries have been out for a few years now. Have you tried other sources?

Autozone wasnt an option for other reasons. My supplier gets Deka and Delco. But will have to broaden my parts resources if it becomes an issue. Sorry, I didnt catch your ealier post
