Hyundai variant coding

Have a 2018 Hyundai Elantra came in and replaced air bag module due to water intrusion no communication with old module installed new tried to do variant coding with autel it auto fills in coding which works most of the time but fails to code I have had a few in the past that it auto filled and the coding was wrong that autel used I was able to plug up old module and get correct coding but since I can communicate with old one I can’t I understand if there is problems on airbag system it won’t code also I just want to make sure I have correct coding first I used to able able to call my Hyundai parts department and they would give me the coding but that person dosent work there anymore and nobody there seems to know how to look it up and I paid for subscription to Hyundai service and can’t find it on there I know if u pull a vin stat inquiry on Hyundai it will give it to u if u have access I watched my friend do it at Hyundai dealer before is there any where else I can get coding even if I have to pay I just want to make sure I have right coding before I go any further thanks

John Create an Hyundai account and pay your money for the a subscription and once you put the VIN in there will be information on how to get the variant coding fir the air bag module

Hello John, Same kind of issue here today. Santa Fe 2020 for an accident. Brand new module try to code with a ms909 pull out the code automatically. Error came when they try to reprogram . Call a guy they have dealer access , the ACU/srs code is the same the autel pull me out. Buy a j2534 access and they didnt have the possibility to make the coding. I'm in an impass. Finally need to find answer…

Jean-philip the issue with your Hyundai is there is a issue with the SRS system something is deployed/unplugged ect That the body shop missed. The coding will be rejected if there is a problem. Once everything is fixed the ACU coding will be accepted. With the factory tool you can see the reason why it was rejected. The only other tool that i believe that does that is the Gscan. Hth

Look at the SRS data for a deployment loop with an out of spec ohms reading. You'll most likely find one. repair that, then attempt coding again.

It’s probably the correct code. If there is a fault in the system it will not accept the coding. Check all seatbelts and pre-tensioner‘s to verify they have not deployed. If you do not see anything wrong then purchase the Hyundai RTR software and click on the DTC status button. It will tell you why it’s not accepting the coding.

Thank u Igor I will try that in the morning I believe that is the correct code for this car autel said aus3 I thought it began with a g I did one several months ago on 18 elantra it gave me the wrong code

Just as others have stated. If there is any issue in the SRS system, the new module will not accept the code. One of my field techs ran into this earlier in the week. Turns out that the collision shop did not replace enough seat belt pretensioners. Once replaced, no issues. It is the OEMs way of making sure that you will not have a sudden and unexpected deployment due to a damaged component…
