2016 Ram 1500 Big Horn 3.0L (M EXF) 8-spd (845RE)
Engine Starts And Stalls Withing Seconds

Truck starts and dies in a few seconds but can sometimes be kept running if pressing throttle right on startup but dies if rpms go under 1200. Also if we unplug the def so it goes in limp mode/restricted miles it starts and runs good.

Scoped cam, crank and inj#1. Attached are pics.

Any advice appreciated.

Any fault codes? Actual and desired fuel pressure ? What does “unplug the def” mean?

No fault codes, Actual and desired fuel pressure are alike. If we create a fault code that is emissions related it'll go in mileage count down phase and at that point its stays running.

Here i have a waveform pic of a 2014 jeep grand Cherokee with 3.0. My question is, i see the cam and crank are not identical comparing to the ram however is that enough to be a problem?

I don’t know how, unplugging the DEF(electrical) could effect the CKP timing(mechanical). The theory could be tested by taking scope captures with the DEF plugged in, start up thru falling RPM and stall and again with the DEF unplugged, startup thru stable idle, to see what changes, if anything.

My guess by disconnecting the def he put the vehicle in limp mode so the pump strategy is designed to run the vehicle with set parameters.

Lamar, After reading through your post and analyzing the data, I had a few thoughts that I'm hoping will be helpful. - I see the differences in the 2 scope captures and I think you're right to be suspicious of it. That said, I don't know that I would hang my hat on it without checking a few other things first. What is the cranking cadence like? Did you perform a relative compression test to…
