U1710-86

Hello DN,

This promaster came in for a complaint of no heated mirrors, found BCM not controlling ground for heated mirror relay, BCM PID indicated a command for heated mirror relay, load tested all circuitry from heated mirror relay to BCM.

I installed and programmed BCM and performed a PROXI alignment, now I am getting a u1710-86 for Implausible data recorded from HVAC module.

The BCM can now command the heated mirror relay and illuminate the light on the HVAC module via bi-directional control but the button itself is not working on the HVAC module and the scanner is no longer indicating a demand via operator control.

I can communicate with the HVAC module via CAN C network and the only module storing a code against the HVAC module is the BCM. So then according the to pinpoint test for u1710-86 I should be replacing the module storing the code against the HVAC module AKA the BCM but I am leery of traveling down this rabbit hole….

Am I missing something? Could this have been an error that occured during programming?

Thank you Robert, I saw there was an update available for the HVAC module but I could not find out what it was for. For whatever reason this TSB does not appear anywhere on AllData nor IDfix. I guess I should be using that tech authority subscription we are paying for DOH. Anyways, much appreciated sir.

Not a problem got burned by it when I was still a dealership tech before the TSB came out.

Also be advised the HVAC module has it's own PROXI. After you performed the BCM PROXI go into the HVAC module and perform it's PROXI configuration.
