Security Theft / No Start

I am attempting to do a PCM replacement procedure on this vehicle. Back story is the car was wrecked. PCM physically damaged. Still functional except one injector stuck on. I attempted to do the PCM replacement function. I was not using HDS. It would complete and start for a second and die then no start. I could put the original PCM back in and it would not start unless I ran the PCM replacement function again. It would then start and run without stalling (injector unplugged) We decided to try a new PCM. After returning to do the PCM replacement function on the new PCM this time I had the HDS with me. This time when I went to switch the ignition on nothing would turn on. The ring light would come on if I pushed the brake pedal but nothing else would come on. So no comm with the tool. Battery connections and voltages checked. Fuses checked. No fuses found burned. Including the multi fuse buss. The shop owner swears nothing has been touched on this vehicle since the last time we were there and it was functioning without any hiccups.

We found the interior fuse panel had no power to several fuses that if we powered up would make the cluster turn on. These fuses are powered by the IG1B relay. The relay is controlled by the BCM. Not surprising the BCM isn't powering those circuits with no ignition switched state. Using this method we were able to ID the vehicle and attempted functions. Nothing would work. I wasn't surprised by that.

I am hoping to find a logical approach to finding what happened to the ignition switch. Is it in a lock down state that needs to be cleared? Is it a part failure? Is there another way to force the ignition into the on state so I can start to use the scan tool? No amount of pushing the button repeatedly or holding down changed anything. I tried using the cut key to operate the drivers side door lock. The power door locks would lock and unlock all door with the manual key. We also tried a hard boot removing battery cables and draining caps.

So according to a Mitchell diagram the ignition button looks simple. Should have 4 wires. B + at yellow wire, white wire gets B+ from button when pushed and sends it to the BCM. Black wire (this is totally an assumption) gets some sort of bias or ref voltage from the BCM an it gets pulled to grd with button pushed by Brown wire chassis grd. That might be an easy place to start testing and see if…

What are you using for the programming / security? The pcm replace function in the PCM will not complete the immobi synchronization for all the included systems. I am not sure how aftermarket tool would do it , and I believe that the vehicle is locked down and no PCM comm due to the vehicle not turning on. When the key will not turn on, ( I have seen this a few times at the salvage lots…

I have LSID. D1 forms already filled out. I am using genuine HDS. Unfortunately I can’t get into the functions in HDS. No communication to ID. I have tried holding the button down. I don’t understand the instructions you are saying “using HDS you do the function of holding the start button and the scan tool will turn on vehicle” I can’t get any scan tool function.

I currently do not have IHDS and have not used since December, I recall a function that when the attempts to id vehicle it would prompt "no comm , is key on ?, is vehicle equipped with keyless access ,( the option was somewhere at that point), I am a but foggy on this next step but I remember it would ask for pcm pin and then the dash would light up / turn on and from there I could do. Give me a…

I did see that screen yesterday on that job. It would not advance past the question of “is it keyless” I am heading back to that shop this morning. Thanks.

This one is fixed. This is a multi issue situation. The car was not broken as I suspected. It was in a lock out condition. Here is where the fun starts. First we needed to get the immobilizer setup tool function to connect to the VCI. I was using the CardaqM. This requires the MVCI. After updating the MVCI device we were able to access the Immobilizer setup tool function. When connecting through…

Justin. I had the same issue several years ago with a 2013 civic, the combination of iHDS & cardaq-m would not turn on the ignition ( I was trying to program a new key, customer lost all of them). I called drew tech support & all I got was the interface was communicating, must be a software issue. Honda wouldn't help because I wasn't using an oem interface. is it true the cardaq-m…

That’s the older version that doesn’t have the lsid requirement. Yes the CardaqM won’t work. Apparently not even on the older system. We do the older style with aftermarket tools regularly. I can’t speak for the DSTi vci. It might get added if I knew more about its capabilitlies and holes.
