Upper Engine cleaning System
Hello To all,
Hope all is well....... Am in the market for a upper engine cleaning/ fogging system to clean GDI intake valves, we do some of the walnut blasting, ( works well). However was wanting to have the second option with a chemical system. What have you found that works well is cost efficient and is user friendly... What system/tool and what chemical?
Thanks in advance!
Mervin
Liqui moly valve cleaner works extremely well . Google it
I heard good things about ATS's chemicals last year, but haven't used it myself.
Our shop has been using the ATS 3C system for over a year. This system is easy to use and it just works.
precisiontec.us sells that one.
Wynn's system is good. Chemical we use the most is General Motors upper engine cleaner
I have used the BG upper plenum cleaner with great success but the gm stuff is the bomb it is amazing how well it works had a 5.3 was burning 1 quart for 200 miles pulled all the plugs poured it in all the cylinders wiggled the crank every 10-15 mins sucked it out and then cranked it over after about 2 hours and now 1 quart for every 1500 just need to deal with the cam sensor leak and then one…
Best results I've gotten for piston / ring carbon removal, rotate Pistons so none are at TDC, Pour about 8 oz into each spark plug let it sit a good four hours on top of the Pistons, (GM SI spec) lay oil absorbant rags over the sparkplug holes then crank it and check out the crap that comes out, then dump the oil.
Check out the TUNAP products if available in US. It is recommended and used by most of the brands in Europe. tunap.com/en/tunap/berei….php
Recommendations for DDI engines? EGR flow gunks these up real bad, light mediun and heavy. A long time ago carbon packing on rings on DT466 diesels was a bit of a problem. Used Marvel Mystery Oil, which is basically straight naptha. Pour it thru the injector holes, bar the engine a few times and let it sit as long as possible, at least 24 hours. Always worked well
We picked up a 3C machine from ATS Carbon Clean after seeing some examples at the show and we have not been disappointed! They recommend using the 3C machine as preventative as well as when the engine has heavy carbon built up on the valves. Cleanings take about 15 -20 minutes and is done with the engine running. The difference between anything store bought such as CRC, Seafoam, BG or any other…
I will take a look. Have you done any bigger diesels like Cummins ISB 6.7L, Navistar MaxxForce 7.6 and 9.3L or bigger like 13 and 15L? Thanks
Rex, I believe the 3C is for Gasoline only right now. With a Diesel chemical coming soon. The oil and fuel pour in treatment works on both Gas and Diesel. Hope that helps.
Watching as we have been doing wlanut blasting and would be interested in something quicker and easier if it comes with good results. Have seen ATS and believe in it's success just not sure if the ROI is there for us
We just recently started using products from BG and they have been working very well. The Platinum fuel system service is for GDI vehicles specifically.
