Engine Performance Training

Question
Driveability

Next Week I am doing a class on Engine Performance based on ASE testing. I am looking for some case studies I can use in the class to make it more interesting. If you have one you would be willing to share I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Mike

Michael, I'm a little confused on your request. It states you are a Mobile Technician, as a Mobile Diagnostic Technician for over 20 years, I certainly had PLENTY of case studies to use in my presentations. Also, if I was going to do an ASE Prep class on Engine Performance (A8) or Advanced Engine Performance (L1), I would use one or all of the ASE Composite vehicles and some of the practice questions that are all over the internet. I would then use some of my own Case Studies to further back up the ASE information.

I know that I would rather use my OWN case studies for two reasons : One is I would know that it really did happen on a vehicle and the second reason, I know what the steps taken were and what the finally outcome was.

Can you give us a little more reason why you would want someone else's case studies ?

Thanks in Advance Jim

Hi Jim,

Until a few months ago I did not take any scope pictures or document my work. I can relay my stories and explain how I worked through a process. This I am doing in my training. I believe the training is much more powerful when one can show pictures of scope traces, broken wires and so forth. Until a few weeks ago, I was working for a corporation that provided all the slides and materials I needed to train. Now I am on my own (… is a partnership with my son) and am having to learn new skills in creating presentations as well as being the presenter.

Your suggestion of using the composite vehicles and sample questions is a very good one. I was hoping that there were some case studies out there specific to engine performance. I gladly share my findings on this forum and on Linked In. As the Diagnostic Network is about collaboration and sharing, I simply have asked members of the forum for help.
