Drewtech CARDAQ3 plus J-2534 Toolbox
Good morning everyone
I finally pulled the trigger on a CarDaq3 this week. I have enough J-2534 and factory level interfaces that I have to keep personal wiki notefile going for preferred types of device, OE website addresses, passwords and nuances in procedures. I wouldn't consider my purchase out of necessity as much as it is out of tool frenzy but I am having a little difficulty with one step of what I would have thought to be a fairly easy process.
Drewtech offers a J2534 Toolbox helper program on their website under /downloads. I don't know if I am doing something wrong, being blocked or the link is broken. Nothing happens from my toughbook, my workstation PC or my home PC when I try to open this link to download the program..
any thoughts?
The tool Box program is only accessible when the cardaq3+ is attached to your pc.
Thanks Danny, it was connected. I was trying to download the link on the website but nothign was happening. I didn't notice the program was already installed on my toughbook when I installed the driver package. The Icon went to a weird spot and it appears I need to clean up my desktop! Thanks for your input this morning!
So you got it working? Its a pretty handy program, but I do think it needs some updating
Yes, Seems to be more of a program to organize all the links for manufacturers. My bluestreak IFlash that I have had for years comes with similar software but most of it is either 'Under Construction" or dead links. I see a tool called DAta Bus Diagnostic Tool was installed as well. This is tickling my interest more than the J2534 helper software…
The toolbox helper program is simply the Toolbox3 software that you already have on the driver disc included with the cardaq (probably out of date) or in the driver download for your cardaq3 (most up to date.) As for the data bus tool, I am on windows 10 64bit and have no problem downloading with Microsoft Edge. ( the toolbox program also downloads in Edge) Oops I didn't see it was resolved! I…
Lol, a coffee or two would have prevented me from making the OG post! I see the data bus tool and tried to open it but it doesn't show the cardaq3. What exactly is the program and what uses does it have?
If its the one I'm thinking of its the GM software to diagnose data bus faults. It will monitor whichever data bus you choose, and tell you who is active / who is not active. If inactive, how long its been inactive etc. I believe you have to use the GM J-box with the software though. MDI or MDI2.
I played with it on Sunday a bit and have no GM vehicles in my gaggle of family cars. I found it a bit odd that the Cardaq3 interface was not on the controller list but bundled in the software? I have an MDI at work so I will experiment with that this week when I have a free moment.
Wayne, The Data Bus Diagnostic Tool is from General Motors, it is not part of the CarDAQ Plus 3 install package. Unfortunately, the CarDAQ Plus 3 is not supported by the Data Bus Diagnostic Tool as it has several proprietary requirements that are only supported by the MDI family of tools.
