2016 Lexus ES350 Remote Start
Customer purchased a really nice 2016 Lexus ES350. Saw some videos on using the Key Fob to Remote Start the vehicle. It is the fully loaded model.
Supposed to press lock on key fob twice, then press lock and hold one more time. No matter what I try, I cant seem to get it to start.
Is this something that has to be configured with techstream?
Thanks for any help
Scan tool might tell you if it has remote start enabled. Bcm data stream most likely. Might tell you if something is blocking it if the vehicle is equipped with it. I believe any code in the pcm will block it
i've been running into a few like this lately. need to make sure the telematics unit has been updated (KLG/19LE05) and then run the activation in Techstream. the only problem is that the dcm has likely been put to sleep for non-use. need to email … to request a manual activation or account repair. you have to give them the vin and the meid. this is taking a few days at…
Isn't that just for using the Enform app for RS and other functions? I would think the factory remote fob (lock - lock - lock+hold) procedure should work on any 2016 ES350, even the upscale Nav trim with Enform. I'm away from SI now and don't feel like navigating TIS on a phone.
I don't think so. 2016+ should be subscription remote start service only. This is the case on my wife's 2016 NX200t.
ES350s definitive have fob RS, some trim/options can use Entune with the app and subscription.
the key fob remote start runs through the dcm, so when the dcm goes to sleep, we lose the key fob remote start. i just spent half a day on the phone with tech support on a 16 RC for this issue. just have to get the bec to wake up the dcm remotely and the driver needs to get a subscription. UPDATE: There's a new piece of information that I just discovered. I can't believe I didn't know this. I…
Thanks for the update. I only read about this in forums as my type of work doesn't typically involve creature comfort diagnosis, even on my specialty lines. It has been unclear who, in forum debates, is correct about this but as a respected pro I will take your word for it. That said, it seems crazy that Toyota of all companies would force a subscription for this formerly in-built…
Here's the information I was referring to. I was quite surprised to learn it, myself! Regarding smarttoast, I'm sure there will come a day when the average man/woman/thing can get customized blockchain smarttoast within an app. </sarcasm>
Let the world change around me, I'll continue to eat only fungible toast.
Check the instrument cluster display menu (vehicle settings) for a setting that may turn on or off that feature. If not, check the vehicle menu in the infotainment center. There you will probably find all the customization settings.
