Who makes excellent Knee pads that articulate ?
I need some new knee pads as I kneel a lot working on vehicles on the floor. I need them to articulate and not fall down every five minutes. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I find it easier to use a Kneeling Pad : amazon.com/GEARWRENCH-869… They make construction pads but they are bulky : homedepot.com/p/TOUGHBUILT-G…; I did some roofing last week and mountain bike pads could be used the longest w/o discomfort & slippage : backcountry.com/ion-k-sleeve?C…
Hi Zeb, Thank you for the suggestions. I have the Tough Built gel fit knee pads already that I finally wore out working on armored trucks. I will get another pair that have served me well. I just was wondering if another pair were available made better than what I had.
Hi Michael, Check Grainger equipment, they have a broad selection. This might sound strange, but I actually use a set of soccer shin guards with the knee pad section built in. Anther option would be to use a large stadium seat cushion. I found bulky construction style knee guards are too troublesome.
Hi Glenn, Thank you for the suggestions. I currently have tough built gel fit knee pads that I finally wore out working on armored trucks.
I have the GELFIT like Zeb posted. They do the trick but yeah, bulky. You'll end up using those foam ones that you have to pull up all the time most often.
Hi Kenneth, I have tough built knee pads already. I wore them out working on armored steel swat trucks that are very angular and full of crevices and boxes through out the vehicle. I just was wondering if some new products what were better available.
I have long work pants with velcro pockets on the knees…..a gel pad can be inserted when needed
Hi Paul, I have 5.11 pants like that already. I need additional padding from knee pads.
Stop by a flooring contractor and ask. The employees there are experts in two things, knee pads and very sharp tools!
Hi Obie, Thanks for the suggestion. I am using Tough built knee pads that I saw being used by a guy unloading cargo at the airport. I asked the gate person to ask them what they use. I need a new pair of what I have already I guess. I just wanted to know if there were anything better available.
I myself like the little kneeling foam pad from snap-on but I was thinking maybe browse some of the tile installer forums on the internet.
Hi Matt, Thank you for for the idea on checking into tile installer grade knee pads.
Michael, I use a throwable floatation boat seat. It doesn’t compress like kneeling cushions. It is closed cell layered foam, so it doesn’t soak up water when the floor is wet. Seriously, this works. Randy
Hi Randall, Thank you for the suggestion. The work I am doing is on armored swat trucks and everything is angular and hard like kneeling on steel boxes and compartments and the like. The tough built knee pads are the ones I use currently. I am kinda hard on stuff trying to get stuff done quickly.
Michael, I am interested in high quality knee pads as well. I have bought too many pairs and hate them all. The lone exception are the ones I wore out and can no longer buy. They were designed for tile work. Thank you for the reply, hopefully we can all find a solution. Randy
Hi Randy, Thus far the Tough built gel fit knee pads are the best I can find. They sell for about 60 dollars. If I could find some superior ones then I would go with those. Tough Built has a lifetime warranty so I will contact them and get them replaced.
Hey Mike. Not sure how they would work for you but I buy most of my work pants from LA Police Gear (LAPG). They sell stand alone knee pads and inserts that are designed to fit into pockets in certain tactical pants. Might want to take look and see if they'll suit your needs.
Hi Paul, I have pants like that from 5.11 with the inserts. I am working on and in around armored steel SWAT trucks that are brutal without the additional knee pads. I have the tough built brand gel knee pads which work pretty well. I just thought there might be something better available.
