Battery Maintainer / Booster
I am in the market for a good battery maintainer mostly for reflashing and jump starting. I have looked at Snap On EEBC500 and was wondering about other similar quality options. What are you using and how well is that working for you. Thanks in advance !!
Here's some reading for you, hope it helps. diag.net/msg/m1gkrdy8dg…
Powermax PMBC-100ADJ is what I been using. With the exception of one volvo I have never had a problem with it I got mine for around $400.00 shipped to Alaska. They sell for around $350.00 about a year ago.
Thanks Hollis That is some really great information. I have a question though for the entire group. Has anyone scoped the can bus or network and observed the ac noise on the bus as well as the ac and dc ripples at the battery or system ? The reason I ask is that one person has put on u tube and he suggested the Power Max had ripple that seemed to show up on the network signal while being…
That is the one I use for all programming except bmw. I have midtronics for bmw. I have had 0 problems in I believe 6 years using it with hundreds of flashes and installs. I do not use it for regular charging so cannot comment on that but programming wise, bullit proof.
Also when using it if I need extension cord I use a special heavy duty cable I made myself that limits voltage drop due to cheap extension cords.
IOTA DLS-90/IQ4 12 VOLT 90 AMP 4 STAGE AUTOMATIC SMART BATTERY CHARGER / POWER SUPPLY. For flashing not jump starting
Yeah, zoned in on reflashing only. I have 30 year old battery charger for those types of situations.
I would consider this one: aeswave.com/PL6100-12-Volt… I use this daily and was involved with testing it when it first came out. There is almost zero ac ripple and it reacts to amperage demands instantly. You want to use a maintainer with a very low AC ripple which most have. What I like best about this one in comparison to the others I have used is the ripple is so minimal that…
I looked at the description, it says it needs a 20 amp outlet plug. did you run into any issues with the plug
I have not had a problem yet with a short heavy cord in a 15 amp outlet yet. I use a cord with an illuminated plug to monitor it. Just make sure nothing else that draws load is on the circuit.
We've had a eebc500 in the shop for every day use as well as flashing for about 6 to 7 years and it's been great, never let us down.
Powermax PMBC-100ADJ - Adjustable voltage - awesome unit and have had it for 3 1/2 years to the tune of $287.
Hello. Is there anyone here using Powermax PMBC-100ADJ for BMW reprogramming? Any suggestions for inexpensive and reliable power supply for BMW reprogramming? Thank you.
That’s the power supply I use and I have programmed plenty of bmw’s with it.
I have the snap on and so far its been great!
We have 2 of the Fronius Acctiva Professional Flash 70 A units. They have been great so far.
Hello team, Thanks mil for the many positive responses I got. I decided on the Powermax but went for the 100 amp option. I will also be using it as s power supply for my Intro to Auto Electrical Class. Hollis Davis your response really did it for me with the tests carried out on the various options. Regards.
