Reprogramming a Toyota Sienna TCM
Looking into Reprogramming a this sienna TCM. We are replacing the Transmission and Programming the TCM after the repair.
Looking at the TIS website shows the mongoose is the only drewtech approved J2534 device(we have the Cardaq-m).
is it worth it to try with the cardaq or should we buy a mongoose cable?
Toyota programming will work with just about any j2534 device. Your cardaq will be fine.
Will it? I'd never considered trying anything else. I have the green mongoose cable that I use for everything in the shop. It's more compact than the Techstream ADVi and does literally everything for a fraction of the cost.
Benjamin, I have tried the Techstream with the Autel, a GM MDI, the Ford VCM2, several different Cardaqs and even an ancient EASE J-box and it worked great with every single one. I wish all manufacturers were like Toyota!
Some changes coming up, though. Need to buy the blue Mongoose cable for the new high-speed “ethernet protocol” on some 2022 models. The LS500h and Mirai “ethernet protocol” will be too fast for Mongoose MFC2.

That only refers to how many scan tools the dealer is required to have. Lexus requires a minimum of 1 Techstream ADVi per 4 technicians. The dealer can buy additional Techstream Lite cables but they can't substitute for a full ADVi. So if the shop has 12 techs, we need minimum 3 ADVi machines. We can't have 1 ADVi and 6 Lite. As far as technical differences, I don't have any good answer. With a…
Cardaq should be fine. I did one with the GM MDI last week.
I have use a Cardaq M on these for years with no issues… Have also used Autel J2534 on Toyota successfully
Your Cardaq comes with the same protocols as mongoose plus many more. I’ve been using Cardaq for allmost every barand with out any issues for years. Never had any problems with Toyota. Techstreem works wit everything
