transmission diagnostic trouble code 4E86 EGS SOLENOID VALVE 3 , 4F89 EGS RATIO MONITOR GEARSHIFT 3-4
Good morning , I am looking for help on this BMW: WBANU53548C114413 I have this transmission dtc that I was called for diagnostic how ever, trough out my resources I have not info . all data , identifix or ondemand, no wiring diagram there is some description and operation info available but I do not find testing procedure for the listed dtc: 4E86 EGS SOLENOID VALVE 3, this is a hard fault circuit code I clear it and it return right away, I wanted to test wiring integrity before condemning a solenoid , a separation point where I can know if my problem is internal in the transmission and not wiring issues external . I believe the other dtc :4F89 EGS RATIO MONITOR GEARSHIFT 3-4 will be related to the first code if the solenoid is not operating correctly there will be issues on gear ratio .
will appreciate your inputs.
Good morning Joel. I’ll like to see adaptation pressures as the most integral and important part of these unit’s diagnostics. Please fwd a screenshot. Thanks
Just looking over the short test. You’ve got to take care of that voltage/charging system before continuing with the egs faults. Hate to go on a wild goose chase. Thanks
thanks , what do you mean with voltage charge ? voltage at egs power and ground? or you mean charging system
Your short test shows a lot of unhappy modules. Under and over voltage codes. Weneed to correct that situation first. Not a direct influence or relationship with the egs issue but a concerning factor
I was asking g questions to the customer young guy . I ask if he has jump started the car and he said yes, and he show me the jumper is i the vehicle all time I ask him why or how many times he has jump it , he unswer , well I come over to my vehicle at nigth smoke ... and wath videso and listen music on my phone and I need to have it plug in the car to charge it .. I tested the battery and it
I don't work on a lot of BMW vehicles, but one thing I learned early on with these vehicles, "they need to have a correct operating battery & charging system for the electrical part of the vehicle to work correctly. Any time you have low voltage codes in any module, start your testing with the charging system.
I am checking o that later during the day I will post it
it is a mobile diagnostic I am doing with the bmw , last week end I was working with the dtc for vanos Engine oil flush was my first step it did take care of a those vanos realted issues and I clear all dtc today I recheck it , only this dtc for tariny is after one week driving less voltage codes this time on modules how ever found reason jump started.
I hate to discuss this in private but it is a faster and more precise approach than trying to type a long post. My personal contact info is in my profile. Call me monday and I’ll walk you through it. Later on I’ll post for the entire group.
Look at my 2 videos posted a few months ago in regards to diagnostics and adaptations.
I saw those , but I do not have the chart to compare my values to specifications. My understanding is this adaptation is similar than fuel trims in engine compensating . for out ranges performance I know I have a circuit code , how ever I do not have pin out or wiring diagram . I think the egds is internal at the valve body and solenoids are attached to it , if I wanted to do some testing
A bit more complex The same principle but different. Look at my second vidro. The limits for each clutch are there. Like I said, I’ll be glad to explain it to you in person. Call me monday.
I do not know how t get t your profile to ft yourphone nunber . his is my email . thank you …
newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e60… This site is called newTIS just punch in the last 7 of the vin. Decent chance the solenoid is bad but scope it just in case. If so there are solenoid kit available. If it has a ton of miles definitely consider a trans. The control units new only come with the valve body complete. Then needs programming. I believe there are companies that unlock used
