Autel IM608

Matt Technician Texas Posted   Latest

I got a few questions for the Autel users on here. I am looking into purchasing a IM 608 and was wonder how that works with the updates. Can I just buy them as needed or do I have to buy every one coming out like on the snap on? Next question is that I read somewhere that a new one is coming out soon, any intel on that? And last one, up to what year does it do parameter resets on fords without credentials?

Thanks

You can buy the updates as you go, you can find them cheaper at jbtools. The tool is excellent I could not program a 2021 F150 without a locksmith credentials. I programmed the ECM but could not do the keys. They called several guys but all of us ran into the same issue. I have not heard about a new one I’m sure is coming the IM608 is about 4 years old by now.

An updated Total Care Plan (sub) is required to run any functions that require their servers. It does parameter resets for most Fords up until around 2018, if I remember correctly.

You buy a one year subscription and will update multiple times throughout that year. If you do not keep an active subscription you will not have all functions available also keeping an active subscription keeps it under warranty. I heard probably the same as you that there might be an IM 608 2 but no one can confirm. Not sure about the parameter reset. It is a great tool however like any tool it…

You can skip and there is no new one it’s not like snap on they continue to update daily weekly etc. right now you can buy 1yr and get 18mo. Snap on stopped punishing for skipped updated too.

Autel told me yesterday the 18 month is not for the 608.

I just updated mine by purchasing update from aesWave. com. I saved 30% over regular autel price. It does come with parameter reset but have not used it yet.

Thanks for all the replies. After looking into it a bit more I think I might go with the IM508, I already got diagnostic scanners and a J2534 device.

Closing this one out. I got myself an IM608 and used it for about a week now, great tool! I also got a TCP for an extra year from AESwave since it was on sale.
