No Communication with some modules
Please note this is an October 2002 build MERCEDES C180 Kompressor NOT a 2011. I could not choose this option from the drop down.
The vehicle presented with two concerns. 1. No Air conditioning operation and low coolant warning being displayed after startup.
I confirmed both complaints then connected Autologic to do a full scan. I found The Autologic only communicates with the following 5 modules. Engine, Transmission, ESP, Radio and telephone.
I repeated a full scan with all the scan tools i have including two Launch tools and a snapon. All communicate with only 5 modules.
I am distinctly lacking when it comes to troubleshooting / wiring information for this vehicle. I do have access to Autologic support and i have made contact but the info provided so far does not help me at all.
As a first step, could somebody please confirm I should be able to communicate to lots of other modules on this car - such as Front and rear SAM etc?
If somebody could also shed light on which DLC pin i should be focusing on to access all the other modules or a common connection point i would be very grateful.
First. Left-hand drive? Underhood, left-rear corner, front SAM module under water? Swap if right-hand drive. May have to remove covers to verify water intrusion. Drains in these fender wells get completely blocked.
I have attached a PDF that explains Mercedes Controller Area Network it should be able explain and help you determine the issue the vehicle is having. Hopefully it covers your specific model and if not it should serve as a great reference. Locate the individual network CAN connectors where you can determine whether it's a module or CAN circuits that could be causing your issue.
Autologic does not have access to WIS? That is where your diagrams are. startekinfo.com If it works for you Andrew, we can let you come into our WIS over TeamViewer, we are in the USA Mountain Time Zone. Just tell me when and we will let you in.
FYI. Startek.info is only accessible to those within the USA. We currently have ZERO direct access to Mercedes info in Australia. !
Thankyou to all that responded so far. I appreciate people taking time out of their day to assist. The CAN document looks very useful. I had completely forgotten about startekinfo. I am continuing to work with Autologic support and will update as soon as possible.
So i will close this request as resolved - despite the fact i have not yet reached a final conclusion. I used the info and wiring diagrams provided to check circuit continuity and for short circuits directly at the front SAM module and at the ignition switch module. I found no fault with the wiring. I connected the scope to both of these data wires while attempting to communicate with the…
