21.4 update warning for Verus edge and Zeus

If you value your ability to save scope captures - DO NOT update to 21.4 if you have not already. If you have, check yours by trying to save any scope capture and see if you get the same results. This is what I have seen on both a Verus Edge and a Zeus: diag.net/file/f7bihdmiq… One was updated over the internet, the other on the Snap on truck.

Once the "saving data" box comes up with the red x where it doesn't belong, you'll have to shut your unit down as it will not allow you to do anything else. The units seem to scan and scope ok, and also save scan files and snapshots, but does this consistently when attempting to save scope files.

I use and save scope files extensively, so this cannot be tolerated. I will try and revert them to 21.2 with the drive images I saved of them. Better by far to lose the update than to lose the ability to save scope files. Fiascos like this is why one should back up his pc based Snappy scanners to an external hard drive. Just a heads up to save someone some potential grief.

Have you contacted your dealer or called the 1 800 number? I have already updated mine but haven't tried to save scope captures yet. They will probably send out a patch to fix it

Not yet. I still have bitter memories from when Snap On made a radical change from the 10.2 to the 10.4 software - disposing of MANY outstanding features which they have yet to restore despite many asking them to do so and explaining why. A timely heads up from a few kept me from making the mistake of “updating” my original Verus which I still have - a heads up I am still grateful for. This is…

Hopefully as another said they'll have a patch for it soon if it is a widespread problem . Waiting for a patch first is probably a good idea.

Thanks for the tip. I just checked our Zeus with 21.4 and it saved ok? But this is a brand new unit(1 week) so it came with it.
