Allison P0614
This is actually for two vehicles with nearly the same situation. both 6.7L ISB cummins and Allison transmissions. A 2011 F-750 and 2012 freightliner M2. The freightliner supposedly lost power, driver played with the gear selector, parked truck, “wiggled some wires” and now wont start without pumping the fuel primer and wont come out of second gear. The Ford had multiple DEF related codes (all innactive now) customer “cleaned out the DEF” supposedly and now wont come out of second gear. so now both vehicles have P0614 active for a torque mismatch between the ECM and TCM.
Currently have access to Allison software and im currently waiting for my Insite software license from diesel laptops. so what i want to know is, could this simply be caused by low voltage? is it possible for the calibration files to be changed by loss of power or the customer disconnecting and reconnecting? or will the the ECM need to be reprogrammed?
Hi Austin, I understand your situation, but don't try to compare two different make vehicles. They have different strategies for the same code to set. Lets concentrate on the 2012 Freightliner that you are addressing. Codes can be generic, but vehicles are not. Here is some info that may help: P0614 – Engine control module (ECM)/transmission control module (TCM) -mismatch –…
More than likely this is going to be a failing TCM on both vehicles. Highly unlikely that anything changes in the CAL’s. but possible. If these are 4th generation A5x TCM‘s that have not yet been Upgraded to the A59 I would highly recommended doing so. that TCM is very very failure prone. but also on backorder. Contact me if you have any questions I work for the Allison distributor in PA
Josh, how can i tell the difference in modules? will the A5x be on the module itself? i know they look to be the same hardware as the older Duramaxs and those were junk.
The part number and model is on the back of the module.
