No Crank / No Start

Guys this is my first posting to this site. We have a sprinter 2500 van towed in and will not crank. Batteries are fully charged and load tested at this point. We turn the key and no dash lights at times. Checked battery supply to starter main cable good, but no signal to start terminal. If I use our Snap-on Modius edge on output test I can activate terminal 15 and 15R and the dash will light up and I can get the gear shifter out of park but nothing else. Some modules have loss of communication. We have checked all the fuses and mega fuses in both locations and none are blown or missing. Where is a good starting point. We have not had many of these coming into our shop up to this point. I have ordered some tech manuals in but will be a few days before they arrive. Is there a good source for technical data that you maybe aware of that may help us moving forward.

Ask customers driver if he recalls a count down of # of starts left. Not familiar with your code #s by memory but sprinters have a programmed # of starts when various codes come up. The most frequent I have come across is the def fluid being run low or empty. These things are an absolute nightmare if you don't have experience with them. To tell the truth I am not going to spend the $s for the…

If the sprinter start count to 0, the dash will show remaining start 0, as I know so 2013 sprinter can reset count down by using Autologic, some can’t. which can’t do the rest, need SCN code

It is from a rent a car company, you know how the answers go no one knows anything about what is was doing before it failed. I can only get the dash to light up if I turn on the head lights. The ignition when turned will not power up the dash, and I can not use the menu keys on the steering wheel. Its like there is lack of communication from the key switch module to the main fuse panel. I just do…

Is very hard to damage the fuse panel due to they have the cover protected, you can check the wire under the steering column ,as you said you only can access the SAM module, than mean the net work is down, maybe some of the module is interferon the net work, the code you pull out is very similar to SRS code, you can try to unplug that first see anything change. 90DA The control module N2/7…

According the code seen like SRS code, Find the SRS module, un-plug that, see if you can start the car or anything change to the problem you have

The battery cables have a few 10 or 12 guage wires coming off them that run under the rubber floor I have repaired 2 or 3 of these with this problem. If I remember correctly I had to remove the plastic step insert to access the wires but once you see them its pretty obvious they will be green and most likely broken. Hope this helps

From the main battery that is in the floor board I see 3 big battery cables and a smaller gauge wire which is labeled for the Sam. They run along the drivers seat and 2 run under the drivers seat and I have good continuity on those two. One of the big cable and the smaller gauge continue on but not sure were they go. I believe there must be a tunnel in between the driver and passenger seat that…

Robert, Here are the diagrams I found in Identifix for starting & instrument panel. I included the charging system as well because they had them grouped with the starter diagrams. Haven't had a chance to give them a good look but thought this might help. There wasn't any information on any of the codes you posted but they seem to have limited information on this vehicle. Some of that may be…

Zachary, Thank you for the information. Since I did not have much info to go on I was trying to see which systems were up and running. I have Alldata and it to does not have very go information on these vehicles either. I did find last night a forum called Sprinter-source that has pretty good information for a forum. A gentleman had up load a 12,000 page manual but for 2007 model year some…

Robert, No problem at all sir. That's what this forum is all about. Hope they're of help to you. Thanks for sharing the stuff you found on the older ones as well. I'm going to take a look myself if I get an opportunity. I'm curious to see how that particular set up is wired & controlled.

I finally figured out what was wrong with this Sprinter. The EIS module that the key goes into had failed and had no communications on any of the can networks. Once we had the new module programed we found the lock module on the steering column was bad. Replace it with a new part and the vehicle the started. Now it has a check engine light and a def low light. Found 2 nox sensors and a bad level…
