Land rover DEF warnings
We have had 2 diesel rovers in the past week with def quality warning and limited restarts. Def fluid at 33%, def injector spray pattern ok, volume ok. Smoke test intake and exhaust systems--no leaks detected. Def injector recently replaced. Software is newest available in sdd. Reset all DEF related adaptions/settings. Always come back with lots of def buildup after def injector. I'm at a loss as to where to go from here other than change focus to nox sensors or scr itself but cannot find any sort of reference value .
Thanks for any help.
If the system is similar to a Mercedes, it sounds like the reduction of NOx is insufficient which the computer interprets as poor quality DEF. I'd pull the electrical connector of the dosing valve and go and drive it. After about 10 miles both NOx sensors should be reading the same (within 10 ppm). At idle I look for right around 100 ppm. If they are reading very close then I would suspect a…
System is very similar but diagnostic computers are worlds apart. Xentry and mercedes is far superior to land rover sdd. I think my bigest problem is actually finding the values in the computer to see whats going on Thanks
Have a Customer with identical vehicle, same issues. Happened to him a year ago, dealer reflashed unit due to TSB about this. Came in here, tested fluid (good) ended up replacing rear NoX sensor, cleared adaptations and no-start countdown and sent him on his way. Some time later was a couple hundred miles away from here and happened again. He took to different dealer, they did something…
I have 2 doing the same thing. Problems occur mainly when weather is cold so im leaning towards heater possibly. If you find out what else was done that would be excellent. Thank you
Have just spoken with him and unfortunately paperwork is here and He's in….Massachusetts, but he needs to speak with service manager about something else on Mon. and will ask. He seems to think it was another reflash and something like drive it like ya stole it, or they cleaned out SCR? I will let you know what he says then.
Hi, I only know for BMW but it should be similar. At BMW we have a 50 minute test plan to test the SCR exhaust system at the shop. We have all the efficiency result needed to conclude the diagnosis. Most of the time both NOx sensors are defective and/or have an old software and need to be replaced. Also we have a quantity check for the Urea injector with the aid of a test plan. The result is…
OK, so the owner of the vehicle I had called me today. (He) never got to talk to the service manager but stated that the paperwork he was given said that the dealership made sure of most recent calibrations, ran it thru forced regen, then cleared adaptations. When he is back in area will bring me the report they gave him, but maybe this helps for now..
