2017 Nissan Rogue S 2.5L (QR25DE) (RE0F10D) — KNMAT2MT6HP546834
No Crank / No Start

Hi, A Shop called me to program an engine computer on a 2017 Nissan Rogue, they installed a used one and can't write the Vin.

Is it possible to write the Vin or to program it using the Autel maxiflash J2534? Thank you.

Hello Lazer, I think it is possible to change the VIN but if the function is available in scan tool. Its been a while since I did it with Autel since I use only Nissan Consult.

I tried with the autel, after I put the Vin in twice it said conditions not right. Do you think it will be different if I pay for a subscription?

There was a recent post in diagnostic network that talked about how after or around 2013 this was not possible using something like an autel. It can be done on the bench. It's not necessary to write it in order for the vehicle to start and run and continue with your diagnostics, as you may know, but if you needed to complete the job I don't think you're going to do it through the data link…

Subscription is not going to work with Autel J2534 and any vehicle before 2021 if i'm correct and so far only OEM interface or Cradaq +3 is compatible

rule of thumb anything 13 and newer is a one time write for VIN. it Would take special tooling in order to change the VIN.

Negative. You'll get codes for ID mismatch, etc. Like Cody said, starting in 2013 and I believe completely by 2016, used modules in Nissan are a no-go without special tooling.

Nissan Rogue is a nightmare line of Nissan. Yes you can reprogram the ECM. But still would not work, the security system will recognize the ECM that’s a used module, and would never start. Some other subscribers has mentioned that after 2013 is a non. Get a new module, and do it right the first time. That’s my recommendation, and possibly you may also need the BCM module with new keys. Good…

Just did one last week never got it to start w used ecm. Always got id mismatch even by eeprom and flash. I was able to change vin with NERS and flashing ecm but no luck. End up getting ordering new ecm and bcm an new key. The bad is parts are back order won't see them till 3 to 4 months .

What’s the issue and mileage on the vehicle? ECM is covered under federal warranty for 8 years / 80.000 mi.

I don't have full history it's been to a few shops and the dealer, but the problems started after front end collision. Body shop repaired then a key issue then a melted fuse box. I'm not sure were the original computer is.
