FCA Programming Support for Salvage Titled Vehicles

Does anyone know if Fiat Chrysler will provide programming support for vehicles with branded or salvage titles? I was called to program a used engine controller on this vehicle but I can't change the VIN. At this point I'm assuming that like GM's Global vehicles a used module can't be installed. Before I have this customer commit to a new ECM I would like to know if FCA will permit programming of salvage titled vehicles. My only experience in this situation is with GM who will not provide programming in cases where a vehicle has a salvage title.

Unfortunately, FCA have never been capable ofprogram used modules on anything the WiTech is used for. Pre 2004, often just plug and play...

I am not sure about a promaster as I have not worked on those much but I have done many used modules on Chrylser up to 13/14 on Caravans, for sure up to'12 on many other lines, I can not speak of the Fiats though. Many times if old module still has com you will be in ok shape with witech, to get proper cal into the used pcm , many times a j box vin write will get you past the security. Still…

What did you use to program it? I've done used PCM's on these all the time with wiTECH.

Welcome to my little world which revolves around Daimler/Mercedes. Without making or buying third party tools to unlock used parts it has not been possible since 1996. Forget using factory software those features and functions are intentionally left out. All the automakers are headed this way. Big losers are the insurance companies but they don't get it.

To answer your question, I am not aware that they are limiting programming to non-branded/salvage vehicles. I have successfully programmed quite a few modules on salvage vehicles. As for programming the Vin, sometimes you can just do a Vin read and write using an Autel then flash the module with the current update

I tried a few times with wiTECH, it's impossible. Unless there maybe an aftermarket solution. New PCM is the way to go. VIN can be changed with any aftermarket scanner but it still won't help with immobilizer.

try the independent pin and program thru the screem "PCM replaced" and have no issues. Now the tough part is the time sensitive pin an the pro master. Haven't seen branded in chry/fiat YET

Here is an update on my issue with the Promaster. I was able to rewrite the VIN using an Autel Maxisis. I did the BCM Proxi Alignment but still no start. The vehcile sets codes P0513 Invalid SKIM Key in the Engine Control Module and U0426-62 Minikrypt Error, Signal Compare Failure. I can clear the codes but they both reset on the next starting attemp. I have retraced all the steps and at this…
