First Look
Is their a alternative a first look sensor. I just cant afford a 400.00 right now and would like to get one to play with. I saw some people on youtube make one but I just don't have time to make one rights with me trying to get my business going and all my other projects. I did try and reach out to a couple but never heard an answer back.
I have been using these for a few months and they work great. I even did a side by side comparison to the first look sensor on the same car and they produced a nearly identical waveform.
I agree with Richard, I have both and also have compared them, The one Michael is producing will do the job for you.
members.iatn.net/forums/read/ms… been hearing al about people buying first look sensors. built one with: -radio shack part# 273-0073 piezo transducer -valve stem with core removed -some old banana jack leads -banana jack to bnc adapter -silicone -my kids old baby bottle we built several at the shop here. one guy used the plastic piece from an old
I have one of these I built years ago. Works good!
Yes I second nicholsonspulsesensors.com I have one and it works excellent. Micheal is great too work with and very helpful.
thanks guys just ordered one from nicholson .
Did you get your's yet? I ordered one maybe the day after you did and I haven't received it yet. I went to the link on this thread and comes up not found.
Josh, There was a complication with the website. Michael is a very good friend of mine whom I talk to daily either via messenger or on the phone. Your order is on track and being shipped. I urge you to contact him through the email you used for payment if you have a question or concern. He is a top notch guy that does everything he can to be prompt and precise with shipping and his product
Do you know if the website will be back up if not is there another way of ordering the sensor
Thanks Rich for the info good talking with you again I use to attend your classes in Pensacola Florida
I got an email saying there was a label made, those tecnical difficulties, who dosent have those from time to time. Thanks for your response.
I am yet another vote of the Nicholson pulse sensor. I own 2 of them and they work awesome. I know in the past he offered them in Banana Plug or BNC... Looks like he is just selling an adaptor cable now. You won't be disappointed !
Kinda ghetto, but the waveform from this is gorgeous. Thanks to Adam Robertson for the tip.
I was looking at a First look today and thought the same thing about $400, thanks for the other ideas guys
Here is actually a couple captures from my Nicholson sensor. This was a 2005 Toyota Camry 2.4 with misfires/running rough. Unfortunately I only have a 2 channel right now so there is no sync. Yellow trace is relative compression. Green trace is the pulse sensor in the radiator filler neck. The firing order is 1342. The blown head gasket is very obvious. No complaints of
Here’s a short video showing a side by side comparison of Micheal Nicholson’s sensor and the first look. Get past the first 5 minutes of me yapping and you’ll see some live demonstrations. This was my first time using mike’s Sensors (we were doing the video to promote a Trained by Techs Giveaway) and since then I’ve gotten much better at scaling and set up to get a worthy waveform…
