2018 Toyota Rav 4 Adas Can Communication Faults
Autologic Drive-pro was used to pull the following codes.
BSM current f/code U0126 loss of communication with steering angle sensor set in the BSM main and slave monitor sensors.
Pre-collision 2 history codes: u0125 lost communication with yaw rate sensor, u0126 lost communication with steering angle sensor, and u0129 lost communication with brake control system.
Using Toyota tech stream lite we found the same codes. When a can system check was performed we see the front distance range sensor off-line. Checked the radar sensor can wiring and found it to be open. Found a break in the CA2L side. We will be replacing the radar sensor wiring harness.
My question is why no f/code U0235 loss of communication with range sensor is set in the Pre-collision 2 module ?
Next question is why the BSM sets the U0126 code but no data can be viewed and is it possible the loss of can communication with range sensor is affecting flow of info to BSM ?
Also why can't we clear the Pre-collision history codes ?
Can you temporarily repair the CA2L wire to get comm back with the radar sensor and see how that affects the rest of the system?
Will be replacing the distance sensor harness tomorrow morning. Will report our findings.
The distance sensor is tied into the brake control system (EAB). If you tried to perform the front beam axis adjustment, it might have shown an error code 11 "CAN communication between DSS and the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly is abnormal." w/ Pre-collision System: When the front bumper is damaged or deformed due to an accident or contact with other objects, etc., or the bumper…
Thank you for the explanation, it is much appreciated.
Replaced the distance sensor harness and all can communication resumed. All codes cleared and calibration was successful. Thanks again for the info.
Hi Stephen, Can you reply to original post with this info? This will also allow you to close out your post as resolved.
