Can Autel Code / perform immobilizer learn on used ECM
Hello all, Once again a volkswagen is showing my lack of Euro experience. This '12 Passat is a Crank no start after starter motor replacement. No comm with the ECM, Other modules thowing codes verifying this. The SES light does come on after 5-15 seconds after key on. I checked t94 1 & 2 and those grounds test good. Also checked power at t94 92 &87 and is good. Testing CAN @ PCM the CAN bus looks normal with PCM unplugged , highs not as high and lows not as low see attached.
I think I am on the right track, Does any one know if autel (906ts) will perform ALL required learn / code/ perform key learn on this vehicle if the PCM is replaced with a used unit?
Thanks for the help!
I believe that is a component protection vehicle. Requiring lsid for immo. It should do throttle and basic coding.
Hi Brian, Most of the time the used units are not able to be successfully programmed to a VAG vehicle this new. The component protection and VIN is "officially" locked in the ECU. What I do with these is clone the MCU and EEPROM from the original and program to the used donor. Usually I have to use a variety of tools based on the model of ECU. For instance with a MED 17.5.6 I use the KTAG in…
Michael, You amaze me at the way you get around things. There is no mountain too high for you.
Thanks for all the information everyone, Michael I that is alot of working around that you do. I would like to learn more about wiping modules in the future.
Brian, I have offered to teach a class at Vision this coming March. So far I have not had a response. My thought is a class in which every attendee had an ECU to take apart, read and analyze. The class would be limited in size so that everyone could get a chance to actually make the process work.
I personally would make it a priority to attend Vision if this class comes about. Please keep me/us informed if this does happen. Thanks
Michael - i would love some hands on training like this from a guy like you!! Keep us posted on your training ideas and locations. Your creative work arounds are certainly interesting and impressive to me
How about meeting in Michigan and train there? I am thinking October before we see much snow. I could arrange for a location in Sterling Heights or we could see if Bill could host us.
Michael - I would definitely meet you in anywhere in Michigan. As far as hosting it at my shop i am not opposed to that at all but please relize I have a small facility so depending on how many people it could be a issue of space and it would have to be a Sat or Sun.. let me know what your thinking I am willing to work with you. Sounds fun 😊
Michael any further thoughts of coming to Michigan this fall?
Holy Moses! That would be awesome! Let us know who we need to harrass at Vision to make this happen. Otherwise I would be willing to travel anywhere in the country to attend this class so keep us updated on that too. But I agree lets keep it out of the snow, everyone knows that down south we don't know how to drive in it 😁
Sent another email to Vision and this time they responded right back. The class idea has been submitted to them. We will see if it is approved. -Mike
Steve, You are way too kind. I am just a regular guy trying to make a living. I enjoy a challenge and these PCMs are definitely challenging.
