Can I program this new TCM module
My customer installed a new TCM module in this vehicle and wanted me to program it for him via Maxsys Elite tablet or J2535.
Can this be done, or is this one of those things where you have to spend $13,000 first?
He does not want to tow it to dealer and I am mobile.
You should not have a problem programming the TCM as long as you follow the steps the scan tool tells you to take. You will need to shift gears during the prompts and so forth. Take Care
Yes you can program it. You may need to get data out of the old plate if he only replaced the plate.
Yes - the Autel is excellent at this, as long as the subscription is current.
You may be able to do it. Autel does not always SCN the EGS modules on all models.. I was on a 2007 E350 207 Chassis and it would not perform online SCN coding. Fortunately it would pull the coding from the old module and I was able to restore it to the new Trans Repair Kit (conductor plate/EGS Module). Had the old one not communicated I would have been able to do everything else but SCN coding…
Yes sure you can you need Vvdi Mb to make it virgin then to make adaptation by any diagnostic system you have Like xentry dad or Autell you need to make personalized and activate then learning
Would a brand new Mercedes TCM module count as virgin?
No need to Virginize. Only if it was personalized in another vehicle. New is considered virgin. Program it and follow all the proper steps to complete the process. Don't be scared. Take your time and you will be fine.
Do you have a source where I can send used working modules to be virginized? (As long as it is legal of course)
No I don't. Cloning with certain equipment is the best option when available, but all depends on the module your working on.It takes an arsenal of specialized tools to do it. Most manufactures are catching on to that. So that moves it in a whole new direction of desoldering and soldering circuit board components. The way parts in our industry are being back ordered…
We at X-Pert Automotive handle virginizing and or cloning Mercedes and BMW used modules. Check out our website: x-pertauto.com look under the auto services tab. Let me know if we can be of any help.
We can unlock, personalize and SCN them to the vehicle for you. Im located in atlanta David. I have a Legit Mercedes Xentry Kit3 and Kit4
I PMed you on FB. I was told by Autel that the Maxisys Elite cannot do the SCN coding. My client is now angry at me for telling him I could do it, but I told him I know someone who can.
Wizard Automotive, Douglasville, GA. Ask for Donald
The Autel can also erase ("virginize") and clone the 722 transmission conductor plates. No need to send them anywhere.
Really? I have a 908P, and 3 Elites, I have never seen this function on them. Where do they have a virginize funtion? Will it virginize the DME too or just the EGS?
Just the EGS. It erases the personalization and drive authorization allowing the initial startup routine to be run again, setting a new VIN, valve number, etc.
On the car, but with jumpers to the trans connector - its just high/low CAN and power/ground. If you have the conductor plate out you can do it on the bench.
If you are going to do the EGS via OBD connector (ALDL for us old guys), you will need to have the car raised and plug the original conductor plate into the factory harness. As long as it is not still attached to the valve body, it can just hang there. Just don't put the car all the way to the ground and break it. Once all data is pulled and stored from original, then you can plug back into the…
I think I know what option you mean. Since I have 3 other tools to virginize the EGS I guess I never really looked deeper into what that option did. It must "deactivate them as that is the only way to be able to rewrite them.
Looks like I hit the resolved option too early. (I checked, but seems not to be an option to un-resolve) My client finally got their module installed, and I programmed it, but it would not perform Step 2. Step 2 Carry out the Software Calibration Number (SCN) coding. We first tried it at his shop where only a hotspot was available that would not work at all, then he towed it to a place with…
David, Does the original EGS module (conductor plate) still communicate? If so, plug it into the car's harness where it normally plugs into the trans, let it hang down, use the Autel and look for SCN coding back up and restore. Go to the EGS module in programming and choose the backup/restore or read/write SCN ( I cannot remember the exact verbage), read/ or back it up. It will have you name…
This was the reason for the replacement. The module would not communicate, and the car only had 1 gear.
Autel just got in touch with me telling me they have no matched SCN data in their server. They told me to use OE tool or send it to the dealership. My client took the job based on my ability to program it and my price I quoted to do it. Autel just dropped me on my head as I called them first to verify coverage.
David shoot me an email so we can discuss. Boyd
