Injector Blow By
was able to remove both injectors, cleaned up the carbon really well with bottle brushes. looked into hole and could see the bore got a little worn. Not perfectly flat. New injector in and new washer. still have blow by. Better but will get worse again. Is there any kind of cutter that they make that I can stick down in there and flatten the seat back out? Is there any suggestions short of pulling the head and sending to a machine shop that you can suggest? Thanks in advance. Tony
Question. So is yours leaking by the plastic housing? Mine is leaking between the injector body goes into the head. When we removed it the copper washer showed signs of leakage. I used a Bosch injector. How is yours leaking?
That is common after running for an extended period with the old one leaking below the washer. It just sits against the aluminum head, which is easily eroded. You need to cut the surface a little bit to get it flat again. There is no way that the washer will deform enough to accommodate much of anything; it leaked in the first place because it is a very weak design, with not enough clamping…
If yours is a BMW, the aftermarket supplies Mercedes copper seals for the bottom of the injector, and they are a different shape - in cross-section - than the Genuine part is. We started using genuine only after a failure.
Hi James , take look on eBay ! Injector seat cutters are readily available. You will probably need some oversized copper washers . Hope this helps Dave T…
I read about a similar issue on IATN a while back and there is a seat cutter kit made for this, but it was very expensive and from a company overseas. I will search back an see if I can find the information. Ultimately the injector seats will need to be cut. If this continues it will damage the head beyond repair. I know 8milelake company carries seat cutter, but I am not sure for this…
Baum Tools sells a tool kit for these, which includes a seat cutter. The first one I got only last for a few cuts, and getting a replacement was extremely difficult. There may be a better source.
What holds injector in head on this one clamp…..?? …Does back of clamp rest on anything like the chevorlet duramax…,,we had new guy on duramax and he didnt notice the metal button missing and injector bolt was getting tight but injector was not clamping the injector tight,,,,hope this helps..
If the available Cutters don't last long check into machine shop supply catalogs they have seat cutters that were designed to cut counterbores for Allen head bolts to recessed them just buy the correct one plus a pilot the size of the injector bore to help center it I think that might be another option although it might make it easier if you have a collar of some sort to Center d shank in the…
