GM PCV Hose Disconnect
Hey DN,
Testing this Chevy for P1101 and need some help on disconnecting this line. Thank you.
The connection between the crank case ventilation valve and turbo charger ventilation tube can not be removed because of a temper proof connection.
GM release a document ID 4593367 related to DTC P1101 that you have found . Inspect the throttle position angle . google this service bulletin document and continue With your Diagnosis .
I am not getting any results searching that ID number. I am aware of the air filter seating problem TSB but have eliminated that possibility. Most information I am getting is for LE2 vin B and I am working on LE2 vin M. Yes the throttle position angle is working its way up 100% and the code populates at idle second trip. I can reset the angle and code does not return but throttle angle is…
Hi John, I have 2 vehicles in at the moment, one with LE1 engine and 1 with the LE2 both with P1101 and P0172 for rich fuel trim. Do you also have this DTC? The airmass is approximately 2 g/s higher than calculated. I have no air leaks and have blanked purge valve off. All breathers appear to be working as normal. Throttle sweep test agrees throughout. It’s starting to become a challenging…
Hi Jez I do not have the P0172. My airmass reading is around 2 g/s at idle. I was able to remove the tamper proof screws and remove the 2 PCV valves. BTW hose assembly can be easily removed once valves are removed from rocker cover. Valves did not looked plugged. What I have found so far is when the vehicle came in the throttle body idle air compensation was at 100%. Doing the reset keeps the…
Sounds like you have a high pressure pump leaking into the crank case common rich fuel trim on a gm
I do not have a rich fuel trim. My code is for an air flow fault. Maybe you were referring to the post from JD.
You will need to use pliers to get that bolt off and replace it with a regular bolt. The PCV connections CAN be removed, but it takes time and finesse. I had to use two picks and the greater part of an hour to remove all the PCV connections. The replacement comes as an assembly
Thank you. I just received the assembly but believe I need to test elsewhere.
Are these the ones where the little orange rubber plunger inside the intake manifold goes missing? Or did they re-design it?
Each PCV valve has an orange plunger in it. There is a TSB for incorrectly installed air filter or warped locking tab for air filter but I have eliminated that possibility.
OK, thanks, sound like a newer design than I have seen. (2012 e.g.)
What all these guys said. Look at SI for the R&R procedure it tells you that they are one time use. Vise grips on the bolt works too.
Thank you. Yes I missed that. Cut the assembly off and replace.
Although the service originally stated they are one time use, they have updated it to not include these pipes in the piston replacement procedure as they can be reused. I’ve never cut one off, use a pick or two to release the tabs that are on the inside by the notches on the outside. As far as the P1101, you have to clean the throttle body when the compensation approaches 100%. Reset the…
