No crank no start
hi, everyone i have a 2011 mercedes benz c300 with a no crank no start condition, I verified the customer complaint when turning the key to the on position no accessories power up. The center display on the instrument panel reads 'take your key from ignition'. i scanned the vehicle and retrieved DTC A254 the electric steering lock has a malfunction. there is an implausible signal. Data parameters for EIS circuit 15 when key is inserted change to Yes position one and two also say yes no change of state on circuit 50 (crank position). I checked for voltage at ESL I had good power feed a good ground and a good ignition feed I also had a signal on data wire (can B) when I inserted/removed key. I suspect a falied electronic steering lock(ESL). if I replace the ESL does it require programing or a VSP license?
I don’t think so. I cant remember the year but I did do one and didn’t have to program anything.
I would think you will need to program I just had to have one done had to do an emulator as MB was closed due to covid but it was a great fix, this was an 08 and it needed programed so I would suspect you will need to for this and it required I guess 2 keys or something but I cannot remember all the details
We just did a steering lock on a Mercedes 2 weeks ago, no programming necessary, the dealer has a core charge on the steering lock though.
its a TRP part, dealer only, and no big deal to make operable.
Check the steering lock
It most likely is the ESL that has failed, which is high failure part on this car. It is a security related part so dealer will not sell it to you without VSP licence and yes programming is needed just to relearn the keys into the new module. The dealer is supplying a blue key which you will have to return after you are done and you need to have all programmed keys available for the relearning…
It is a theft related part, you can buy emulator online to take place or just repair original assuming board is not too burned on motor contacts check out lacartech they sell interface and emulator thats who I use hth
Thank you all for Sharing your experience and knowledge with me It has been tremendously helpful. So I called the dealer to price the ESL. The ESL is $560 with a $25 core charge and $340 for the blue program key Which is refunded when you return the blue key. To all who have performed the emulator install is this a plug and play unit or is it a separate Programming software Require? Also the ESL…
If it fails unlocked you can lower the column just a little and undo the nut. But if it fails locked, the column has to drop all the way down to remove it. As for the emulator setup, no it's not plug-and-play, so I had a mobile programmer set one up for me. But I think Taylor (above) is saying that the software is available from the emulator manufacturer.
It was plug and play, I did have to send the key and ignition switch in
Hello everyone I fixed this MB 2011 c300. The customer opt for the factory ESL, which requires a valid form of Id and the owner of vehicle to purchase since it is a TRP(theft related part) as you guys have mentioned. After replacing the ESL which failed in the lock position I had to drill a hole in it and turn the gear in order to release the grub bolt. The ESL comes with a blue program key in…
