No Start
Security Theft / No Start

Good day guys,

I am working on a Nissan Titan with the Cummins Diesel engine . The car came in from a different shop.

Original customer complaint: Engine shutdown while driving.

Previous Shop had replaced ,but were not able to program:

  • ECM( currently Blank Reman 23710-1MZ40 ) Purchased @ Dealer in Florida
  • IPDM

We checked all power & ground to the ECM .All good

Hardware : Controller Technologies Vehicle Box J2534

Software: Nissan NERS 4.08 ( Downloaded from Nissan )

After getting the correct Calibration file from Nissan ( Not easy for Reman ECU ) tried to Flash The ECM using the NERS program ,but failed ( multiple tries) . Customer support says check battery voltage and vehicle conditions .The progress bar during programming does not even move ( stays at 0% ). Both Batteries are good( performed with battery chargers) ,doors closed al accessories off .

We purchased a 2nd ECU ( USED ,same year) and had Crank No Start => Immobilizer Issue . Only DTC was IMMO Code ( full communication as seen in attached pictures)

With assistance from a locksmith ( 20 digit code ) we could not get the key Programmed in the ECM. No start enable from the IMMO system. It would fail every time . BCM does recognize key ( Buttons react on Key Fob and car turns on normally )

So I tried to update the software on the used ECM using the NERS program and the correct Calibration file And had the same failure as the NEW (reman) ECU . Now the ECM seems “blank” , No communication with ECM & U1000 code in all modules.

After this issue I found a problem with the rear trunk window motor being active all the time which was keeping the glass in the open position. After swapping the motor relay I tried it again and the glass moved to the closed position. For quick testing I disconnected the switch and tried the programming again and am still receiving the same errors( NERS not programming ECU ).

Our only Nissan dealership will not take/assist with the vehicle because they do not work on USA vehicles Only domestic Japan & South American market.

I believe the rear power window motor might have something to do with the key programming issue.

I am looking into getting an other USED ECM ,because that way I only needed to program the USED ECU the car,VIN registration and Injector calibration.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Regards,

Yarl …

Use the factory scan tool to program the vehicle. There are times when a Nissan doesn't want to take a program using after-market equipment. See if you can communicate with all the modules. Sometimes the problem is in a different module not allowing you to config or set up a different module.

Hello Yarl, You mentioned a battery charger and I wondered if that's what you were using during programming? Conventional battery chargers can cause programming issues because of the ripple & varying voltage levels. Best thing is to have a stable power supply designed for programming. That may be what you were using but I wanted to clarify. Stephen made a good point that it may require the…

Yes, you are completely right. I did use a stable power supply. I am in the process of acquiring a Consult 3 Plus. As soon I have it I will try again and report back. Thanks for the assistance.

Where did you find the 1MZ40 data number? The reman (part) PN should have been 2371M-EZ40A-RE, and the blank ecm PN would be the 23701-EZ40A (rom data). If your scan tool is correct and it now reads EZ43B your likely going to need another ecm, once programmed it's nearly impossible to change the core file. Your correct rom PN would be 23701-EZ42B according to FAST. Also cummins titans have tons…
