The PCM driver for pin 3, positive driver of the latch relay has failed open. ALL wiring has been tested for shorts, opens, and overloads. Power and grounds have been verified. Relay wiring has been replaced along with the relays, (corroded mess). The board has a burned conductor trace and an open diode. It will run with the latch relay jumpered. We can try to repair the module, but it is the wrong one for the application. My question is does anyone have a good source for this PCM.?
Hi Randy: I didn't know any of those abortions were still out there. I figured that the metal worms would've gotten them by now. I don't have a source though you may wish to call FSEG (they're now Dorman) to see if they can help with repairing yours. The company (FSEG) has been split up into 3 divisions. This is probably the one that you want…
Tony, Thank you for the information, I checked in a bit too late to call today. We did leave an email however. Cardone is no longer servicing this product. Auto Zone-Blue Streak will not touch it because it is the wrong PCM for this VIN. Some others said no or have poor reviews. Cost is not the issue here. Thank you Randy
Tony, Thank you again for the contact, they used to fix these modules. Time moves folks on to more profitable work, as such so must we. Randy
If you don’t find a repair; let me know. I can do board repair. Is this a flex circuit board?
Stephen, It is a typical ‘80’s 2 sided rigid circuit board. We are able to able to do the repair. What we were hoping for was to get the proper ECM for this vehIcle. supposedly the module installed does not recognize the WOT switch and the power steering pressure switch, not sure what else or how significant these issues are. Thank you, Randy
