Hello everybody I been called to program a TCM attached to valve body. I have a PTP4. My question is, is it possible with a Mazda subscription, or is it only with Mazda IDS and VCM2?

I’m assuming the valve body or trans has been replaced? There’s no actual programming, Just a relearn that needs to be done, which you can do without IDS. I attached the procedure for it. Its pretty simple and straight forward.

Paul and Adam, There is programming needed. A PMI is needed. Then the relearn procedure. The service information in Mazda omitted this. There is a TSB outlining the needed operations and correcting the omission in OE SI. I guess it could be done J2534 but then again it might not. The beauty of J2534. :)

Since it's a major powertrain component, the J-box will ‘usually’ work, but since it's a Mazda, who knows? I use Mazda software, so I'm not too sure…again, the ‘beauty’ of J2534!

I have performed an update on a 2008 Mazda 3 TCM. Info from Drewtech indicates only ECM and TCM functionality with pass thru. However, all modules were showing on the list. I only updated the ECM and TCM as no other updates were available.

Hey Tim thanks for your input. Did you perform that update recently with Mazda IDS J2534 program. Just worried if any changes were made with j2534 program.
