Ford f350 6.0 misfire monitor not complete
Hey guys, hope you having a good Saturday, allow me to brighten your day, I've been working on this 2004 6.0 diesel engine, misfire monitor won't complete, replace FICM and ECM and still not complete I've check every aspect of the truck to run this monitor, drive cycle, no codes in any module, truck runs smooth, cam and crank signal looks ok (I'll be dropping some waveforms for you guys), the only thing that has got my attention is this waveform from the CAN bus at my DLC connector, take a look this graph is showing that my bus negative and positive are crossed or one voltage is going higher and the other bus is going lower, what you guys think? have you seen something like that? or Am just loosing this one.
is it OBDII certified? some of fords trucks in those years were not OBDII certified. Look on the emissions sticker and make sure. The smog tech needs to answer the question of if it needs OBDII checks done when they re starting the test. Many fly past the question because it is rare to need to change to no. If it is OBDII then make sure engine getting to temp. May need a thermostat.
I think that GVW truck isn’t likely OBD2 and isn’t required to comply. Not sure about CAL trucks but the 49 state version isnt compliant till MY2007
Pretty sure that vehicle is inside the CA BAR smog check program parameters, although a GVW was not listed: "Diesel-powered vehicles 1998 and newer with a gross vehicle weight rating of 14,000 pounds and less require a Smog Check". (bar.ca.gov/Consumer/Smog…) Anyway, the CAN signals look normal (even though the scope time base looks to be set too…
CAN high Voltage 2.5 volts to 3.5 volts CAN low voltage 2.5 volts to 1.5 volts. At least on the ones I’ve worked on. And yes I know there are other voltages used for other CAN networks.
Has the pcm been chipped or modded? If so, good chance that's the cause. If not, I would look at your ficm sync pid while cranking. Does it say "yes"? Second thing, scope your cam and crank signals. Should have a nice clean square wave from the camshaft sensor and a .5-.7v ac wave from the crank. Post up the cam/crank signals if you have them. Then, what kind of signal do you have on the cmp and…
Sorry if this is not relevant... (1) As per Vin vehicle is 49 state. (2) Ford OBDII states several misfire monitor entry conditions but some that stand out are min RPM is 600 max is 750, max VSS is 1 MPH
Hi Glen: I would think that it is absolutely relevant. Then again, so is: FLI, EOT, IAT, EBG & IPC. I have no clue why the FICM would be replaced for a monitor issue though. Guido
Just incase you havnt tried it, i would reset the pcm memory (KAM) besides clearing the codes. Have you looked at pcm updates? Misfire Detection Monitor The misfire detection monitor will be enabled only when certain base engine conditions are first satisfied. Input from the following sensors is required to enable the monitor: engine oil temperature (EOT), crankshaft position (CKP), mass fuel…
Roberto, You have replace the ECU (no stored adaptations); Misfire monitoring is dependent on the Crankshaft sensor signal, that's what I presume. It seems to me that your OBD2 drive cycle may differ from, or be dependent on, the Crankshaft Sensor adaptation "drive cycle". I don't know how Ford does it but, the vehicles that I specialize in do it like this: When the ECT is at operating temp…
Javier, Care to expand on why is you list ICP? I see IPR listed but not ICP It may be worth watching VGT data even though it is not listed.
I’m gunna try this again: If that is indeed a 49 State truck, I don’t believe that it’s OBD2 compliant and duces wild on monitors. Non CAL diesels in that weight class weren’t OBD2 compliant till 2007.
The OP must have entered into the BAR-OIS that the vehicle is California certified. In the Smog Check OBD Reference Guide, it shows that OIS will ignore incomplete continuous monitors for Federally certified >8500GVWR vehicles. bar.ca.gov/pdf/Smog_Check….pdf
Hi guys, sorry for the loooong delay on this one, it turned out that this truck is federal, so, monitors no suppose to matter for the smog here on California, sent to referee and they took it from there, I had to take it to my local Ford dealer to get that information but it worth it. Thanks you everybody and have a happy, happy year.
