Chris have you looked up in service information under symptoms and/or a code that would indicate an XM issue to assist you in diagnostics? Also did you look up TSB or PIP and PIT for this issue?

Hi Bob, Yes, I did both. There are no codes. I know about the mast and base being for XM vs FM/AM . I believe it to be the antenna base. I have ordered the base. I would have liked to have found a hard fault but I did not. Will see what happens. Thanks!

If the display shows loss of signal and the antenna has been replaced, have you tried a reset of the XM portion? My wife's '10 Equinox lost only certain XM channels over night and by resetting the XM signal restored things. Prompts were followed on the radio display, I think it was channel 1 or 0.

I don’t think that the mast portion of the antenna is for XM. It is for the FM. The XM portion is in the base (above the roof part)of the unit. The base is an active frequency converter for the XM and is powered.

I believe the antenna is on the vcim or it connects there if I remember correctly

The XM coax that plugs into the base/antenna should have 5 or 12 reference on the center pin in the coax coming from the module. The outside shield is ground thru the module.

Closing an old . Ended up being electrical control circuit board corroded at the base of the XM antenna. Replaced entire roof receiver, problem fixed. (all other functions am/fm worked fine with the faulty antenna, just no XM signal).
